Dear fellow English teachers anywhere in this Wonderful Wide World …
VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE! – This phrase was coined by William Cowper, in his poem The Task (1785): “Variety is the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor”. A phrase that´s still used today and which basically means “diversity makes life interesting”. As a matter of fact, you can find entries for this phrase in many dictionaries if you look it up.
By the way, are you familiar with the online English dictionary ONELOOK?
